Late Night Dining in Honolulu

For some reason after the pandemic, business close early.  People don’t stay out to shop, nor eat late.  Most businesses are dark around 8:30 p.m., leaving just a few options for those who get off work at that time.  If you enjoy dining late, here are a few places you may want to remember.

Sam’s Kitchen

Open until 1:00 a.m. daily, Sam’s Kitchen serves up simple, but flavor-packed food.  The counter service spot offers seafood with an Asian twist, with ample seating.  The eatery offers pupus such as French fries or spring rolls, or main dishes such as top sirloin New York steak, fresh caught fish, or lightly fried chicken breast.  Zhuzh up the proteins with one of the signature sauces, add some starch or salad to the a la carte offerings, and if that isn’t enough, add more proteins for a nominal charge.

We recommend you try the garlic shrimp, a half-pound order of extra jumbo-sized shrimp made easy to eat because they’ve been peeled, deveined, and cleaned.  Cooked in the original garlic sauce made with crushed garlic, chopped garlic, sliced garlic, extra virgin olive oil, grapeseed oil, butter, lemon, Chardonnay, Hawaiian honey, Kauai salt, and Braggs aminos, these shrimp will satisfy your craving for anything garlicky.  Hopefully you don’t have to meet anyone afterwards because your breath would ward off any vampire.

SteveO’s TaquitO’s

Open until 12:00 midnight, and an hour later on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, SteveO’s TaquitO’s is perfect place for Latin-inspired cuisine.  The Tex Mex eatery aims to provide delicious food in a great setting with the best service.

The chef boasts 17 years of experience, incorporating fresh ingredients to amplify flavor.  Our recommendation is the burrito, which is made fresh-to-order with quality ingredients, resulting in a snack or meal bursting with flavor.  And the best part is, it is offered at an incredibly affordable price, in the event you just came out of a bar where you dropped $500 for a bottle of tequila, just to show you off that you could.

Fujiyama Texas

The most impressive of all is Fujiyama Texas because it is open until 3:30 a.m. daily.  The lively restaurant most known for its kushi katsu, or deep fried skewers, offers a Midnight Diner menu from 11:00 p.m. to closing.  Menu items include a mapo tofu, pork and tofu, assorted sashimi, cut steak, simmered pork, ahi poke, and a variety of udon and ramen, which Japanese often use to close out the night after a protracted drinking session.  So if you are familiar with the popular Japanese TV show “Midnight Diner” about a late-night diner in the Shinjuku district of Tokyo that attracts a motley crew of patrons, this is your chance to re-enact one of your favorite episodes.
