Shrimp trucks reign king in Haleiwa. Tourists and locals alike flock to the many shrimp truck options peppered through the town. One of our top staff picks is Camaron. Their garlic shrimp is served peeled in a creamy garlic sauce, which makes it unique among most Haleiwa shrimp trucks.

Featured on Guy Fieri’s Diners Drive-ins and Dives, Big Wave Shrimp serves up plump, ono-licious garlic shrimp out of their iconic food truck. They also serve a variety of food items and lunch plates such as a Rib Plate and Fried Chicken Wings. If someone in your party is averse to shrimp, Big Wave Shrimp has you covered.

Several years ago, an iconic Haleiwa shrimp truck called Macky’s closed abruptly, leaving long time fans sad and clamoring for their tasty garlic shrimp. The good news is that one of their chefs opened up Jenny’s Shrimp Truck, which carries on that great Macky’s taste and flavor. Located slightly off the main Haleiwa strip, it’s totally worth the 10 minute stroll for those mouth watering shrimp.
66-160 Kamehameha Hwy, Haleiwa, HI 96712
Open since 1975, Kua Aina Burger holds down the burger game in North Shore. The fresh, flavorful burgers are served fast and made to order over a lava rock grill. You’ll have a lot of topping options to choose from to build your perfect burger, but the half avocado is definitely a staff favorite.
66-111 Kamehameha Hwy Suite 605, Haleiwa, HI 96712
From opening to closing, we have never seen no line at Matsumoto Shave Ice. That’s not a bad thing though, because they operate at lightning speed doling out over 1000 shave ices any given day. Our recommendation would be to check out the add-on condiments. We always top ours with mochi balls and condensed milk. Make sure to check out the extensive gift store in addition to the shave ice. You’ll find many Hawaii only prints and T shirts that make for great souvenirs.
6) North Shore Macadamia Nut Company
62330 Kamehameha Hwy, Haleiwa, HI 96712
It doesn’t really get more “farm to table” than this. You’ll find North Shore Macadamia Nut Company close to the beach park. Make sure to stop in to taste the macadamia nuts grown on site for a fun, educational experience anyone can enjoy. We highly recommend stocking up on more than you think you need, because once you open a bag it’s not making it back to the mainland.
