5 Places to Visit in Haleiwa

In recent years, Haleiwa has become a must visit hot spot on Oahu.  For better or for worse, the idyllic North Shore town has continued to attract visitors seeking fun and sun. We can’t complain about all the great restaurants and shops that have opened though! Here are some places we like to visit  when we need some of those laid back North Shore vibes.

1.  Poke for the People

Poke for the People

Make your own poke bowl just the way you like. This little gem of poke serving goodness lets you pick from 10 styles of oh so fresh poke. Add some toppings and you’ll be munching a fresh poke bowl under the North Shore Sun, wondering why you didn’t do this sooner.

2. Camaron

Shell on or shell off? Thats been a debate ever since people started eating shrimp. Camaron is in the shell off camp,  with their Garlic Shrimp served peeled with a deliciously creamy garlic sauce. We always opt for the Coconut Shrimp & Spicy Shrimp combo, since you get 2 flavors of shrimp in one sitting.  You may have seen them on TV or on Social Media, as they’ve become a destination to visit in Haleiwa.

3. The Chill Grill

The Chill Grill Haleiwa

We’ve been visiting this food truck since when they only served fresh drinks and juices.  We were pleasantly surprised when they started serving great food! We love the Garlic Butter Steak Plate. Grilled up right in front of you, the plate comes with fresh veggies pulled from the owner’s farm. The farm still provides the fruits and veggies for their fresh squeezed juice and smoothies, so make sure to get a healthy drink with that heaping pile of steak.

4. North Shore Macadamia

Mac nuts & Coffee free to sample!

Arguably one of the most famous Hawaiian exports, Macadamia nuts are a must try if you’re visiting. This small farm on the North Shore end of Haleiwa has been serving mac nut products since 1972! Your friends and family will thank you if you bring back some freshly roasted mac nuts straight from the North Shore.

5. Surf & Sea

Popular Surf Shop in Haleiwa since 1965!

Surf N Sea has served the North Shore surfing community since it’s opening in 1965. The iconic yellow building sits next to the famous Haleiwa rainbow bridge. They offer surf gear and lessons, but many visitors are after the store branded T shirts. The limited collaboration Tees made with surf brand Hurley are always in high demand.
